Are we following worthless idols and forfeiting God's grace?

"Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs". Jonah 2:8

As I was meditating on the book of Jonah, above verse caught my attention. The context is Jonah knew the will of God for his life, yet chose to follow his own will and plans. The end result was he got into deep trouble. In the midst of his trials Jonah calls out to the Lord. He recognizes that he is forfeiting God's grace by running behind worthless idols(my will, my plan, my thoughts). He repents and brings sacrifice of praise before the Lord. Later we see, the deliverance from the Lord was almost immediate. Jonah 2:10 says "And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land".

Friends, we are living in a treacherous time. Our adversary, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour anyone he comes across. We cannot survive by forfeiting God's grace. The question is "Is there an area in our life where we have chosen to follow our ways and not His ways (knowingly or unknowingly)?

Lord help us to follow your good, pleasing and perfect WILL always. As we meditate on this verse Lord, give us greater revelation of truth.
